KCL, Department of Bioengineering consists of 18 academic and 75 research staff located within St Thomas’ Hospital. The main objective of the Departmentis to pursue high quality, methodological research in biomedical engineering technologies and information processing. Specialist areas include:
- Multi-scale and Multi-physics
- Computational modelling,
- Systems biology,
- High performance computation and visualisation for biomedical applications,
- Image processing and Image acquisition,
- Numerical Analysis and
- parameter estimation.
The research activity is focused on the integration of intelligent image and data acquisition with quantitative tools in both clinical and basic science contexts for cardiovascular, oncology and pulmonary disease applications.
